Nationale Herdenkingen :

In the Netherlands we have 3 commemorations, one being on the 4th May the National dodenherdenking.  This commemorates the deaths of everyone who died during the 2nd World War military as well as civilians.

On the 15th August we remember all those who died during the Japanese occupation of Netherlands East-Indies during the 2nd World War.

On the last Sunday in January we commemorate all those who died from the Holocaust in Amsterdam. On the 27th January 1945 the allies freed Auschwitz, hence the day became known as the “The Holocaust Memorial Day”

At the Dutch club in Sydney on Sunday the 8th May we will have a commemoration and also weather permitting a presentation/display of World War 2 jeeps, presented by “World War 2 Historic Car Club”

On the 1st May we will be celebrating Koningsdag/Kings day but much smaller than previous years as the Kangaroo school are doing their own due to a prior commitment but there will still be a “free market” on the balcony and/or on the grass – “weather permitting”.
